The views on this walk are simply breathtaking. There had been snowfall the previous day which made it even more picturesque. The walk takes around 3 hours there and back and is relatively easy. You g... more »

We joined the track from the Hermitage hotel (and later found out that there was a campground further up where we could park). Roundtrip from the Hermitage the track took us four and a half to five hours. Although the track was a bit foggy when we departed, the clouds cleared and we were greeted with breathtaking views. The track was relatively easy, with little elevation. If you enjoy sightseeing, walking, or simply a relaxing way to see the outdoors on the south island it is absolutely worth making time for.

This track is very easy, popular, and the main points along it are within a fairly short walk of the start. The views from the glacier lake are fantastic - if you only have half a day to spend at Mt Cook, this is the track to use.
