Charge your camera for panoramic photographs from Sky Tower, the tallest structure in New Zealand. Auckland's eye-catching landmark, this 328 m (1,076 ft) observation and telecommunications tower rises over the city's business district and remains best known for its unique needle-like design. An elevator whisks you to the top in less than 40 seconds, leaving plenty of time for breathtaking views from one of the observation decks. For an extra kick of adrenaline, take a peek at the city below through the glass-floor panels. If you happen to be here at sunset, you can see the colors changing over the city and enjoy a cocktail at the tower's cafe/bar. I always love to visit here, fascinating a beautiful place which side it can not see, tourists should definitely go upstairs, the view is unforgettable. The most popular place for tourists in AucklandView original -
Perhaps the views would be more interesting if Auckland’s skyline was. No skyscrapers to speak of. Auckland in general had the feeling of a town rather than a city. Not saying that’s bad but not reall... more »

Had a great time up here for the first time. Staff take a photo of you on your way up.. which they then print out and pop into a book all about Auckland and sky city that costs $40. The sky cafe wasn't cheap... $10 for a milkshake.. but it was nice. Cocktails here are almost $20 each. View is amazing. Staff were all really happy and full of smiles

Went up here at night. Pretty good views of the city but I think day-time views might be better. I like that there's quite a lot of freedom to explore the different levels. The first main observation level is all right but do check out the other floors like the cafe, restaurant and club floors. And of course, the other observation floor on the upper level (which I prefer more as the wooden flooring, design and lighting makes it feel more private and cosy).
