Most of the area's half a million annual visitors arrive by one of many bus tours from Queenstown offering easy access to this pristine natural world. Numerous operators also offer flights from Queenstown, drastically reducing transit time and giving you extra time for additional activities that day. If you're staying closer to the national park, you can reach the fjord by hiking a 50 km (31 mi) walking trail starting at Lake Te Anau.   We drove to Milford Sound from Te Anau, took about 2 hours & is a fantastic drive, we left early in morning to beat the traffic as it's a narrow road. Lot's to stop & see on the way, don't miss the Ke...  more »

  A terrific experience to sail into this place on a cruise ship. Spectacular scenery and natural features abound. Early morning low cloud added to the atmosphere and when this cleared a totally new perspective was given.

  What I like the most is the seal sunbathing on the rock and unexpected small penguins. Cruise on the boat with tall relief of earth surround you is a nice experience to share with family and friends.
